Colon Street
In all the cities there is a street of reference that we must know. Even if we don’t know that street, chances are we would have passed by the street on numerous occasions. There is no exception in the Cebu city. Colon Street is the street of reference in Cebu. It is the main artery of the city runs through the center of the city. We can see innumerable shops at very affordable prices at each side of the city. It is known as the “Cebu downtown”. Make sure you take a stroll here when you visit Cebu. Also, make sure you keep an eye on your wallet – both literally and physically. You might get pick-pocketed if you don’t pay attention. Or you might spend too much on the cheap goods from around the Philippines if you don’t keep your budget 😛
Basilica Minore del Santo Niño
Admire the architecture of the oldest Catholic basilica, established at the beginning of the 16th century. It is one of the most touristic attractions of the city of Cebu city and we could say that it is her emblem. An incredible religious building, Romanesque and neoclassic, located 10 minutes walk from colon Street towards the direction of the port. Year after year, thousands of tourists pass through its doors to go for their next adventures in the whole Philippines.
Cross of Magallanes.
One of the most cultural exponents of Cebu, the Magallanes was donated to the city in 1521, to the Cebuanos. It is in the heart of the city, just behind the holy child.
Fort San Pedro
Nowadays, part of the fortress is a museum. Within the fort is part of the legacy of the Spanish Government. There are well preserved artifacts of Spanish origin, as well as documents, paintings and sculptures. Outside the walls of the fort, there is a large statue of Legazpi. It is located in the area that is now called Plaza de la Independencia, next to the quay of the city of Cebu.
