December 31, 2018
It is the end of a year again. I still remember what happened to me two years ago around these dates. While everyone was busy setting up the resolution for the new year, I finally decided to end a pending subject that I had for years. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I finally decided to face the difficult task of learning a new language. The urge of changing my life for good and to learn new things made my head to the country of kangaroos and koalas – Australia! It was an exciting journey. I took my first steps with English in Australia. At the same time, I enjoyed all the Australian customs and met wonderful people from all over the world.
But after a year in the country of the antipodes, I discovered a unique opportunity while I was browsing through internet casually. An offer to look for a marketing intern at an English school site in the Philippines caught my attention. After checking through the site, I applied almost immediately without thinking. And thanks to that I ended up in the International Marketing department in an English Academy, based in the Philippines now. If you have been reading my posts you know that I will always leave the trail of the web links for you to find out later on. If not please bear with me. Let us start from the beginning of my journey.
There are many reasons why people go to Australia– to learn English, to surf, to live an experience, and even for love. Indeed, it is a great country with a lot to offer. In my case, it was English and the desire for adventure. So Decision taken and now I have to tell my friends. When you have an organized life and a job in a profession that you love, people normally do not understand why you would leave all these behind for an adventure. I have seen reactions of all kinds. But the most common would be: Couldn’t you go any further? It should also be noted that a normal flight from Europe to Australia lasts about 25 hours. That is, you do not need organization, you need to organize an expedition.
Marketing in the Philippines.
Sometimes you need to organize an expedition to Australia and other times things come by chance. That’s how I ended up in the world of Marketing and in the Philippines. A post on the corporate website of 3D Academy where an opportunity to work in Marketing is offered. After sending an email with the CV and a personal interview and I am here.
I never thought that at some point in my life I would work in Marketing. It seemed very distant to access at the beginning. But the idea seemed very interesting to me. In addition, the most important thing is I could continue studying English and this time for free. A new stage in my life that I started with desire, I want to finish it with English and I want to continue improving as a professional. The truth is that my experience here had been incredible. I am lucky to work with wonderful people who give me a lot of flexibility to be able to continue studying and working at the same time. My work, in the academy, consists mainly of managing social networks, contacting agencies and potential clients and writing a weekly topic on the blog … …
Next destination Southeast Asia
Will I stay in the Philippines after this adventure? Honestly, I do not think so. Everything depends on my English. But when my English become better, I have Southeast Asia in my sights. There are 5 continents and 194 countries in the world. Obviously, there is a long way to go for a new adventure. I am fortunate to have a considerable background in travel, especially in America, Europe and Oceania. With a total of about 20 known countries in my bag of travelling. Now it’s the turn for Asia. I live in the Philippines. I was on vacation in Bali and Thailand (Impressive!!!) and I will continue in Southeast Asia but this time: Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
This last topic of the year I will tell you a little about my experience working in a country totally different from mine. But the real reason for this post to greet you personally and congratulate you for another year well spend because we not only say goodbye this week, we say goodbye to one year and welcome the next.
