4 Tips from my own experiences when studying abroad

Studying abroad, you have to be your own “guide”. Firstly, you need to learn a lot of new things to perfect yourself. If you have done preparation carefully, the journey to study abroad will be a precious and beautiful experience of youth. Below is one of the experiences I have gained while studying in another country. Hope it will bring you the useful information.

#Tip 1 – Experience in choosing the right schools

Choosing the right school is very important. When you first started researching, you might like this and that school because of various reasons from the interior design to the photoshopped photos published by the school. However, the decision to choose a school should not be based on these physical appearances. The teaching and management style of a school will directly affect your time, academic performance and future work. So don’t just choose a school because you like the design of the school building.

You need to determine what is the purpose of your education? What do you want to achieve after studying abroad? These questions will help you to choose the most suitable school. Because when learning in a suitable environment, you will have the opportunity to reveal all your strengths. Besides, a suitable environment will also help to motivate your learning desire. A relaxed and motivating studying environment usually means that you don’t have to worry too much about other things like tuition, curriculum or other concerns.

Study Abroad

For those who come to the Philippines to study English because they want to get their dream IELTS score, you have come to the right place because the courses here are mostly private lessons. It’s kind of like getting private tutors to help you to improve your score while paying for a normal course fees. 3D Academy is especially suitable for those who like to experience the multinational environment without much stress, to discover new cultures, and to regain the basic English communication skills in the shortest time.

#Tip 2 -The exam you take and the scores will directly affect which countries you can go!

Different schools in different countries have different requirements when it comes to the exams scores. So you have to learn carefully to equip yourself with a solid knowledge base. For English-speaking countries like Singapore, USA, UK or Australia, you need:

  • A level to study for Bachelor Degree in Universities in Singapore, UK, Australia or Canada.
  • SAT if you are going to study for bachelor degree in Universities in the US.
  • IELTS or TOEFL score if you are from Non-English speaking countries. In particular, you need IELTS 5.0 to 5.5 for pre-university courses, and IELTS> 6.0 and no subjects below 6 to go directly to university.
  • GRE and GMAT – if you are going to study MBA or Master program in the US or other countries.

Learning a foreign language is not an easy task where you can complete in one day. Therefore, if you intend to study abroad, it is best to take the time to invest in foreign languages seriously.

#Tip 3 – Soft skills are important as well

In addition to a solid knowledge base, soft skills also play an extremely important role. For developed countries, students are highly appreciated for having good soft skills. This is quite new compared to students in Vietnam. However, if you want to adapt well to your life abroad, you need to accumulate more soft skills for yourself.

Soft skills are extremely diverse and need time to train. For example, time management skills, spending management, cooking skills … These are all necessary skills that an international student should have. Because, it helps you to lead an independent life when your study abroad.

In addition, you need to learn more soft skills to serve your learning. Presentation skills and  extracurricular activities are typical examples. No matter what countries you study in, you must have these skills to perform well.

#Tip 4 – Embracing religious and ethnic diversity

Studying in an international environment will help you to meet friends from all continents on the globe. In addition to differences in culture, language, religious and ethnic differences are also an issue of concern. Living in an international environment, you must know how to respect this difference. Accepting diversity means that you are opening your heart to receiving the best.
