As the COVID-19 pandemic is causing most countries to close the border, globe-trotters like us are stuck at home. Airbnb is now sharing multiple Virtual Backgrounds for the users. You can download and use these photos as the backdrops for your desktop, mobiles phones, tablets, or Zoom to tentatively treat your travel itch while sheltering in place. These photos are stunningly beautiful and inspiring. They transferred your soul from real life into the Balian Treehouse and the calming oceanfront cottage in Havana. Today, I would like to take our 3D readers for a virtual journey around the world through these unique places!

This is a five-storey tree house built with bamboo. Bamboo is a very common building materials in the tropical countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. The design is integrated with the natural environment. Imagine you are working from home in a tree house made of bamboo in the jungle of Bali. Facts about Indonesia and Bali

Indonesia is the largest country by land size in Southeast Asia. There are 17,506 islands in Indonesia, a lot more compared to the Philippines, with 7,641 islands in the country. Many ESL Students confused between Indonesia and India when they just began to study English because of the similarity in their names. India is a country located in the South Asia. Please don’t confuse between these two countries. When many backpackers talk about Indonesia, the first name that comes to their mind is Bali. Bali is not even the main capital of Indonesia (Which is Jakarta). However, Bali is the most famous island in Indonesia because of the unique landscape, natural beauty and the variety of culture over there. The low cost of living, the rich culture, coupled with the azure white sand beach had made this place tops the bucket list of many travelers around the world. Every year, you will see countless of backpackers from all over the world such as Russia, Australia, United Kingdom, etc flocking into this island for their retreats or for their settlement into this paradise.

#2 Home in Medieval Luberon Village (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France)

If you look closely, you will find a panoramic view of the small village of Provence next to the window in this picture. This hut is located in the middle of the mountain. Imagine setting this picture as your zoom background and when you are chatting with your loved ones, they will be able to enjoy the picturesque scenery of the Luberon Valley right behind you! Cest très magnifique! (French: This is magnificent!) *I am setting my desktop background now!

Facts about Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and France

Provence covers a large chunk of the southeastern region in France, bordering Italy at the north and the Mediterranean sea at the South. It is well known for the diverse landscapes. From the southern Alps and Camargue Plain to the rolling mountain region, there are endless stretch of vineyards, olive trees, pine trees and lavender fields. To the south is the Côte d’ Azur (alias: French Riviera), well known for the charming resort towns (such as Saint Tropez and Cannes) and Nice.

Imagine yourself sitting and meditating in a minimalist hall with the quiet Lough Guitane at the background. When you wake up in the morning, you will have your breakfast with the view of the splendid sunrise over the lake. When you are tired of work. you will rest your eyes on the greenery along the stretch of Killarney National Park. *Seriously enough! I can do all these only in my imagination now that I can’t book a ticket into this beauty!

Facts about Killarney and Ireland

Killarney (Irish: Cill Airne) is a small town located on the shore of the Lough Leane in County Kerry, at southwest Ireland. It is a stop along the scenic road of the Ring of Kerry. It is also the starting and ending point of the 200 km stretch of Kerry Way trail. One of the town ’s treasures is the 19th-century building, St. Mary ’s Cathedral. There is also Killarney National Park across the bridge from the cathedral. The park contains the Victorian Muckross mansion, a large garden and a long stretch of traditional farms.

This is a unique experience offered for the mountaineering campers. Sitting in the “bird box”, you can enjoy the bird view of the beautiful fjords along Vestland in Norway from your cabin. As the lodge is built halfway up the mountains, this is a perfect place for adventurous climbers. Waking up in the bird box and admiring the incredibly beauty of the fjords and mountains will be an unforgettable experience. At dusk, meditate facing the window overlooking the mountain peaks, accompanied with the birds chirping sound. *In melancholy, I started missing the travel time so much!

Facts about Vestland and Norway

Vestland is a county that was just established on January 1, 2020 in Norway. It is located along the Atlantic coast of southern Norway. The beautiful scenery of southern Norway made up of endless fjords and mountains. The majestic view of the fjords is a pilgrimage place to visit for travelers who love nature and scenery!

Mexico boosts a lot beautiful landscapes and historical civilizations. There are nearly 50 million tourists visiting Mexico every year. Imagine you are in the tranquil rainforest of Mexico, pulling up your chair and having a cup of afternoon tea under the warm afternoon sun. Since we are sheltering in place now, we can only look at the picture and start imagining our lives past COVID-19!

Facts about Morelos and Mexico

Morelos is located in the central part of Mexico. For many of our Asian readers, Mexico, despite being a unique country on its own, is only well known to us because of the neighbor, the United States. Mexico often appears in our news only when the Americans say something about Mexico. For instance, Donald Trump kept mentioning about Mexico when he was running for the President of the US, about building the “Wall” between Mexico and the US!

After Trump was elected as the POTUS in 2016, the Netherland produced a video to ridicule Trump. There was multiple mentions about the wall issue between the US and Mexico in the video.

Imagine sitting in a transparent house halfway up the mountain. You will have a spectacular view of the sunrise and sunset. During the day, you can enjoy the majestic beauty of the Sacred Valley along Cusco, and the endless stretch of mountains and rivers. At night, you can enjoy the sky full of stars with no border! 

Facts about Peru and Urubamba

Urubamba is a small town located in the Sacred Valley region of southeastern Peru. When talking about Peru, everyone’s first reaction will be Machu Picchu. Yes a.k.a the castle in the sky. When you take a train from Cusco (The second largest city in Peru) to Aguas Calientes (The town located in the foothills of Machu Picchu), you will pass by Urubamba. Speaking of Cusco, I just realized that my profile picture was taken in Cusco as well. It was in a room booked with Airbnb as well. What a memory!

#7 Vintage Hollywood Home (Los Angeles, CA, United States)

At present, the Coronavirus Pandemic is wreaking havoc in the United States. Let’s temporarily change our desktop picture to to this peaceful place outside of the Hollywood Hills to enjoy the beautiful views of Los Angeles.

Facts about Havana and Cuba

Cuba, like Mexico is also a country made famous by her neighbor, the United States. It is 1 hour flight from Miami. The country is often the symbol of poverty due to various economic sanctions placed to the country earlier. In May 2016, Cuba started enjoying tourism boom after the visit of the then US President Barack Obama. Havana is the capital of Cuba. I don’t know about you but when I hear Havana,  the first and only thing that comes to my mind is the song “Havana” sang by Camilla Cabeyou.

This is a room overlooking the peaceful Sortedam Lake and the King ’s Garden. Even if you need me to work from home at the small table whole day, it seems not so difficult to pass the time with a stunning view like that!

Looking at this window peeking into the greenery of southern New Zealand, I can only daydream to visit this neverland at the moment!

COVID-19 Pandemic is changing many facets of our lives at the moment. Facing the difficult situation overwhelming the healthcare system in many countries around the world, we can only stay home and stay healthy to help flatten the curve. While we put our travel plans on hold, let’s search for our inner peace while enjoying these desktop photos shared by Airbnb. To my next Adventure – I will be right back!
