3 hot springs in Cebu

When you talk about hot springs, which country pop into your mind? Japan of course! The so called “Onsen” culture in Japan, where people soak into the hot water during the cold winter is one of the most enjoyable experience you can ever imagine in life. I’ve been to Japan for the Onsen and it was really memorable. So when my Filipino friends told me that there’s also hot spring in Cebu, I was shocked. I never knew that. I was also curious about how enjoying hot springs in summer weather would be like.

Today I will introduce the 3 nearest hot springs from 3D Academy in Cebu, Philippines.

No.1 Esoy Hot Spring

Esoy hot spring is located in the northern part of Cebu Island, about 61 kilometers from 3D Academy.

The temperature of the hot spring is between 40 and 60 degrees Celsius. In addition to its therapeutic hot spring pools, you can also hike along the river, admire rock formations such as stalagmites and stalactites, feed fish, etc.

Tickets: P350 for adults and P175 for children

No.2 Kansanto Spring

Kansato hot spring is located in the southern part of Cebu Island, about 101 kilometers from 3D Academy.

Explore the man-made mini forest and mini Nipa hut; swim in the cool water.

Tickets: ₱40 pesos per person (adult or child)

Cottage: ₱300 per day

Overnight cabin: ₱1,500 per night

No.3 Mainit Hot Spring

Mainit hot spring is located in the southern part of Cebu Island, about 125 kilometers from 3D Academy.

The hot spring is composed of four different pools, each with a corresponding water temperature sign. You can adapt to your own situation and then choose the pool you want to join. The hottest swimming pool has a temperature slightly above 42 degrees, while the lowest temperature swimming pool has a temperature close to 36 degrees.

Tickets: P20 per person

How to get there?

There are usually four ways to get there:

1. Go there directly by taking taxi. If you have 3-4 people, this will be the optimal option. It saves you the time from transit and waiting for the bus. However, it’s definitely more expensive.

2. Take a jeepney to the Cebu North Bus Station or the South Bus Station. Then, take the bus, get off near the hot spring, and then take a motorcycle or walk over to the hot spring. It is suitable for a small number of people with plenty of time to spend on their hands. It’s normally like a one day trip. You can enjoy the countryside scenery of the Philippines along the way. And it’s extremely cheap. Around USD 2-5 per bus ticket. The only disadvantage is that it could be a long journey – 2-3 hours bus ride.

3. You can also rent a motorcycle to go directly. It’s suitable if you are going alone or with a very small group of people whereby everyone can ride a motorbike. The advantage is that it is fast. The disadvantage is that it is not so safe to ride a motorbike in Cebu as foreigners, we are not so familiar with the roads along the mountain, we could get lost. And the price of renting a motorcycle for entire day is not cheap, around USD 20-30 per day. Personally I don’t really recommend this option.

4.Come to 3D Academy! 3D always organized weekend trips to these places and the students can take the school bus in a group. Recommend this way!

In an age where stress is almost everywhere, we need to find a way to relax and cleanse our body and mind. Soaking in a natural hot spring is the best way.
