I recommend 4 delicious restaurants in Cebu

As of today, I have stayed in Cebu 3D Aacademy for almost 10 months. I guess I am now experienced enough to give you recommendations on the nice places to go in Cebu. Today, I would like to share about 4 delicious restaurants in Cebu that I enjoy having my meals at.

No. 1 – Café Laguna

Café Laguna is a true Filipino gourmet restaurant. There is a double-storey flagship restaurant in The Terraces of Ayala Center. The dining environment of Café Laguna is relatively high-end compared to other local Cebu City restaurants. Its business hours are from 10 am to 10 pm daily.

Café Laguna’s most well-known dish is called Seafood Platter. This exquisite gourmet is a favorite of many Cebuano patrons. The seafood platter is made up of two crabs, ten prawns, grilled squid, fresh seaweed and so on.

Also, I recommend the fresh mango juice made by Café Laguna. It is really delicious! Don’t miss it. Fresh mango juice is a must-order drink every time we dine at Café Laguna.

No. 2 – Hukad | Golden Cowrie

Whenever talking to friends or classmates about famous restaurants or delicacies in Cebu, they would definitely ask: “Have you been to Golden Cowrie?” Golden Cowrie is the first authentic Filipino delicacy we have tasted in Cebu City. It is unforgettable/ A must try in this restaurant is – the Garlic Rice. It is super delicious and affordable (Less than USD $1 per bowl of rice).

The utensils they use in Golden Cowrie are quite distinctive. The hot white rice is served on banana leaves. Even children with a bad appetite will find it fresh and eat more rice because of the fragrance from the banana leaves which added flavour to the rice. Every dish here is worth trying. Also, if you don’t eat eggplant, maybe you can try the fried eggplant here. I believe it will completely change your prejudice against eggplant as the cooking here is super delicious.

The decoration of Golden Cowrie is also full of Filipino local flavor. Every waiter who serves customers here welcomes people with a smile, creating a harmonious dining environment. There are many Golden Cowrie restaurant branches in Cebu City: the first one is near the Waterfront Hotel & Casino Cebu City and the other two newer branches are in The Terraces, Ayala Center and SM City.

No. 3 – Boosog

A local friend in Cebu once introduced us to Boosog, an authentic Filipino restaurant whose dishes are almost the same as Hukad-Golden Cowrie but much more budget friendly. This is another well-known local restaurant chain in Cebu. For me personally, I like the taste of some dishes here much better as they are not as salty as Hukad-Golden Cowrie, and the texture are much firmer. Also, the price of most dishes are cheaper. So I recommend you to try both Golden Cowrie and Boosog when you visit Cebu and you can be the judge. 🙂

No. 4 – Jollibee

Jollibee is the largest fast-food restaurant chain in the Philippines. The Philippine pizza chain restaurant Greenwich, the Chinese restaurant chain Chowking and the bakery chain Red Ribbon are all under the Jollibee Group. There are currently more than 1,500 Jollibee restaurants in the Philippines. If you have lived in the Philippines for awhile and claim to live like a local, you will definitely be laughed at if you have not eaten at Jollibee yet. Basically, having a meal in Jollibee is definitely your first gateway to integrate into Filipino life

Before the establishment of Jollibee in 1978, Tony Tan Caktiong, a Filipino-Chinese in the Philippines, ran an ice cream shop business. As his business continued to grow, his meals immediately included burgers, French fries and fried chicken. After the Jollibee restaurant was formally established, the company reused professional managers and launched a series of marketing strategies.

Jollibee is the largest chain of Western-style fast food in the Philippines. It’s not an exaggeration to see a Jollibee every 100 meters in a city in the Philippines. Filipinos like to eat rice more than we thought. Almost every set meal must be served with the rice. Jollibee will provide iron spoons and forks for customers to use. When eating fried chicken, they must also be served with rice, so people in Jollibee does not grab fried chicken with their hands.
