The Queen City of the South, as they say a fitting name for Cebu City. The country’s second city has been hailed for many great things – the beaches, festivals, and best of all the food. If you’re wondering where to eat in Cebu, loosen your belt and get ready because there are too many good restaurants in Cebu to miss out on.
In history Cebu is the first island the Spaniards settled in. Cebu’s local cuisine is naturally adorned with Spanish influence. Now adding to that melting pot the Chinese community that has taken its roots there, expect a taste of Chinese cuisine as well. If you are a foreigner that is having a vacation here in my beautiful city that might be looking for a unique type of taste then let me share to you some of the nice and intriguing places that you might be interested in eating. These are some of the most visited food shops or restaurants here in Cebu.
One of my favorites, Mang Inasal’s authentic fusion of traditional Filipino cuisine with the dine-in concept. Famous for its native-style and “nuot-sarap” Chicken Inasal with its pioneering “unlimited rice”, Mang Inasal quickly won the hearts of its customers with its distinctively Pinoy stamp-grilling and special marinade made out of local secret spices.
The primary reason for Mang Inasal’s success is its wide array of Filipino comfort food, especially Chicken Inasal – with its distinct taste that Pinoys have grown and continue to love.
Also a special thing about Mang Inasal is they have an “Unlimited-rice” option. It’s very suitable for people with huge stomach. Now let’s see a Japanese try this unlimited rice challenge!
Then in this shop you will find one of my favorite choice which is the “Halo-Halo”
(Tagalog for “mixed” or “mixture”), also spelled haluhalo, is a popular Filipino cold dessert which is a concoction of crushed ice, evaporated milk and various ingredients including, among others, ube, sweetened beans, coconut strips, sago, gulaman (seaweed gelatin), pinipig rice, boiled root crops in cubes, fruit slices, flan, and topped with a scoop of ice cream.
If you’re looking for an American style with the mixed of Pilipino style of taste this place is a nice place to passed by. If you’re in for some mouthwatering burgers, fries, wings or ribs, Big Daddy is your way to go! In this place, its where I usually eat burgers and usually partner it with a bottle of beer, for me it’s one of the best
Another kind of food trip that is getting popular here in Cebu is what they called “bucket shrimp” if you heard about that words there is only one famous place to go and that is I Love Bucket shrimps- Capitol, in here dining gets casual and fun where customers wear paper bibs and eat by hand. I’m not really a fan of seafood because I’m allergic to seafood but for those people that are in love with seafood especially shrimps this is one of the cool places where you should visit. I’m sure that you will love this place and don’t forget to bring your friends so that it would be more fun.
No. 4 – LIGHTHOUSE Restaurant
If you are looking for a more classy type of food trip, a place where you can bring someone for a date or even if you want to bring your friends in a more formal style of venue combined with a little traditional atmosphere. This place is where you should try and go. Lighthouse restaurant offers a formal meal for everyone that wants to experience a memorable trip, in addition to this, while you are eating your delicious meal there is also a band that will play some nice music for you, the most interesting part of it is that the players of the band are blind..
And last to my list, this for those who have a huge appetite and love eating many types of food. Vikings Luxury Buffet located at SM City Cebu, it’s an eat all you can restaurant where you can find different kinds of food not only Filipino foods but also international and popular foods from different countries like Japan,Korea,Thailand and so on… they offer from main dishes to disserts, all you can try. This is a perfect restaurant for you and your friends who are craving for a lot of foods to try.
Of course aside from these nice restaurants that you can visit there are still a lot of interesting and wonderful food shops that you can visit here in Cebu. All you need is the budget and of course the passion of eating.. What are you waiting for…? come and have a visit in my beautiful city and experience the things that you have never had before. This is Ian sharing you a little bit of taste from my City Cebu.. Thanks.
