Parental accompaniment is not always required for minors to study abroad at 3D ACADEMY, but it depends on the student\u2019s age and whether they have obtained a WEG (Waiver of Exclusion Ground)<\/strong> before entering the Philippines. Local immigration law and school policy must both be considered when determining eligibility for unaccompanied travel and enrollment.<\/p>\n

\u2708\ufe0f What is the WEG and why does it matter?<\/h4>\n

The WEG (Waiver of Exclusion Ground) is an immigration requirement in the Philippines for minors under the age of 15<\/strong> who enter the country without their parents or legal guardians. Without this document, minors will not be allowed to enter the Philippines alone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Therefore, if a student does not have a WEG<\/strong>, they must be accompanied by at least one parent or legal guardian when entering the country. This rule applies regardless of the student\u2019s maturity, English level, or study purpose.<\/p>\n

Students aged 15 and above: No parental accompaniment needed<\/h4>\n

For students who are 15 years old or older<\/strong>, parental accompaniment is not required<\/strong>. These students are treated as independent travelers and are not subject to WEG requirements. They can enter the Philippines, join our programs, and live in dormitories without a guardian.<\/p>\n

Many students in this age group travel alone to Cebu for language study, especially during summer or spring breaks. 3D ACADEMY provides a secure and supportive environment that helps these students adjust quickly and safely.<\/p>\n

Students aged 13\u201314: WEG required or parental accompaniment<\/h4>\n

For students who are 13 or 14 years old<\/strong>, 3D ACADEMY accepts solo enrollment if the student obtains a valid WEG<\/strong> prior to departure. With this document, they may travel and join classes independently, provided that their guardians approve and all legal paperwork is in place.<\/p>\n

If the student does not have a WEG, one parent or legal guardian must accompany them<\/strong> to the Philippines. This is strictly enforced by immigration officials at the airport, and students without the proper documentation may be denied entry.<\/p>\n

Students aged 12 and under: Accompaniment or group program required<\/h4>\n

For students who are 12 years old or younger<\/strong>, 3D ACADEMY does not accept individual enrollment under any circumstances. These students can only participate in two specific cases:<\/p>\n

  1. Parent-child study abroad programs<\/strong>: The child joins with a parent who also attends lessons or accompanies them throughout the day.<\/li>\n
  2. Group study programs<\/strong>: The child is part of an agency- or school-organized group with adult supervisors or chaperones who take full responsibility for the student\u2019s welfare.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Even if a WEG is obtained, 3D ACADEMY\u2019s internal rules do not allow solo enrollment for this age group. Safety, supervision, and maturity are the main reasons for this policy.<\/p>\n

    Who applies for the WEG and what documents are needed?<\/h4>\n

    The WEG must be applied for by the student\u2019s parent or guardian at the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate<\/strong> in their home country. 3D ACADEMY can issue the Certificate of Enrollment<\/strong> required for this process, but we do not handle WEG applications on behalf of students.<\/p>\n

    • Parental consent letter (notarized)<\/li>\n

      Is there a curfew at 3D ACADEMY? How does it apply to minors?<\/h3>\n

      Yes, 3D ACADEMY has a clear curfew policy in place to ensure student safety and maintain a focused study environment. The rules vary depending on the type of accommodation and the student\u2019s age, particularly for minors under 18 years old.<\/p>\n

      \u23f0 Standard Curfew Hours<\/h4>\n

      For students staying in on-campus dormitories<\/strong>, the standard curfew is 11:00 PM (23:00)<\/strong> every day. After this time, the campus entrance is locked, and students are not allowed to enter or exit until 5:00 AM.<\/p>\n

      On Fridays, Saturdays, and the nights before public holidays<\/strong>, students aged 18 and above are allowed to stay out past 11:00 PM. However, minors (under 18)<\/strong> must follow the 11:00 PM curfew every day, including weekends and holidays.<\/p>\n

      Additional Rules for Minors<\/h4>\n

      Students under 18 are also subject to an additional rule: they cannot go out after 8:00 PM unless accompanied by someone aged 18 or older<\/strong>. This is to ensure proper supervision and prevent late-night risks. Security staff enforce this rule strictly.<\/p>\n

      ID Check and Dormitory Monitoring<\/h4>\n

      At 11:00 PM, security staff perform an ID check to confirm that all on-campus dormitory students have returned. Students must carry their ID card when leaving campus and return it to its designated spot upon re-entry.<\/p>\n

      If a student fails to return by curfew, they will receive a formal warning regardless of the reason. Curfew rules remain in effect until the student checks out, even after graduation ceremonies.<\/p>\n

      Hotel Dormitories and Commuters<\/h4>\n

      Students staying in hotel-type dormitories<\/strong> are not subject to the 11:00 PM curfew. However, they cannot enter the school campus after 11:00 PM<\/strong>. They may stay in the hotel\u2019s cafeteria or study areas past curfew, but if they leave the premises, they cannot re-enter until morning.<\/p>\n

      Commuter students<\/strong> may stay on campus only between 5:00 AM and 11:00 PM<\/strong>. Staying beyond these hours is not permitted.<\/p>\n
