Are there any additional fees in the Philippines?

Are there any additional fees in the Philippines?

Yes, there are local fees that must be paid on-site in the Philippines. These are not included in your tuition or dormitory fees and must be paid in cash (Philippine Peso) after your arrival at 3D ACADEMY.

Here is a breakdown of the most common local fees as of July 2025:

  • SSP (Special Study Permit): ₱11,040
(Required for all foreign students, regulated by the Philippine immigration office)

  • Deposit: ₱4,500 (Refundable upon departure if there are no damages or unpaid bills)

  • Weekly utility and management fee: ₱500 per week

  • Airport pick-up (one-way): ₱1,500 (Optional, reservation required)

  • Textbooks & Materials: Cost varies depending on the course

  • VISA Extension & ACR I-Card (for students staying more than 4 weeks): Applicable based on the duration

Important Notes:

  • All local fees must be paid in cash (Philippine Peso) at the school office during orientation.

  • These fees are non-negotiable and based on government regulations and school operations.

  • Currency exchange support is available at the school, but we recommend bringing some pesos or USD with you.

These fees are standard across most language schools in the Philippines. They help ensure compliance with local laws and support campus operations.

If you’re unsure about how much to prepare or want an estimate based on your stay, feel free to contact us before your departure.

How Much Are the Local Fees for a 4-Week Stay?

If you plan to study at 3D ACADEMY for 4 weeks, here’s a breakdown of the typical local fees you’ll need to pay on-site in cash (Philippine Peso) after arrival:

✅ Breakdown of Local Fees (as of July 2025):

Item Amount Notes
SSP (Special Study Permit) ₱11,040 Required for all foreign students
Deposit ₱4,500 Refundable at the end of your stay
Utility & Management Fee ₱500 × 4 weeks = ₱2,000 Covers electricity, water, facility use
Textbooks & Materials Approx. ₱500–1,000 Depending on your course
Airport Pick-Up (Optional) ₱1,500 One-way from Cebu airport

Total Estimate for 4 Weeks:

₱19,040 – ₱20,040
(Approx. USD 340 – 360 depending on exchange rate)

Please note: All payments must be made in cash (PHP) during orientation.
A receipt will be provided for each fee.

Why Are These Fees Separate?

These local fees are based on Philippine government regulations (e.g., SSP) and on-site operations (utilities, cleaning, materials). They are not included in the tuition fee because they can vary depending on your stay length and course type.

What Is the SSP and Why Is It Required?

The SSP (Special Study Permit) is a document issued by the Bureau of Immigration in the Philippines that legally allows foreign nationals to study in the country. Even if you’re only taking a short-term course (like 1–4 weeks), the SSP is mandatory and must be processed through an accredited school like 3D ACADEMY.

You don’t need to apply yourself—we will handle the process on your behalf. The SSP fee of ₱11,040 covers government charges, processing costs, and administrative handling. This is a one-time fee valid for the duration of your stay.

How the Deposit System Works

Upon check-in, all students are required to pay a ₱4,500 refundable deposit. This is used to cover any potential damages to your dormitory room, lost keys, or unpaid bills (such as electricity overuse, if applicable). The deposit is refunded when you check out, assuming there are no deductions. This system ensures that shared facilities are respected and maintained for everyone’s benefit.

Are There Any Hidden Costs?

We are committed to transparency—there are no hidden fees at 3D ACADEMY. The local fees listed above include everything that is mandatory. However, you may encounter some optional costs depending on your lifestyle and preferences.

For example:

  • Extra laundry: ₱50–100 per load (beyond the weekly free service)

  • Photocopying / printing: ₱2–5 per page

  • Weekend trips: Prices vary depending on destination and tour operator

  • Snacks / drinks: Available from nearby convenience stores

These expenses are all optional and not related to your course or accommodation. You are in full control of your additional spending.

Can I Pay in Other Currencies?

Local fees must be paid in Philippine pesos. Since these fees go directly to service providers (like the immigration office, dorm maintenance, and transport services), we cannot accept payments in foreign currencies for local fees.

Currency exchange is available at the Cebu airport and local banks. If you arrive late at night, we suggest bringing some pesos in advance or exchanging a small amount at your departure airport. Our staff will also assist you in finding trusted exchange services nearby if needed.

What If I’m Staying Longer Than 4 Weeks?

If you plan to stay more than 4 weeks, additional local fees may apply. For example:

  • Visa Extension: Required from the 5th week onward. The cost is around ₱4,000–₱8,000 depending on your total stay length.

  • Electricity surcharge: If you use more than the standard allocation in your dorm (e.g., for air conditioning), a small extra charge may be added.

  • Textbooks: Most materials are provided, but students in special programs like IELTS or Business English may need to purchase a workbook (₱500–₱1,000).

We recommend preparing a local cash budget of ₱5,000–₱10,000 for every 4 weeks of stay, depending on your program and spending habits. If you’re unsure, our staff can provide a customized estimate based on your planned course and accommodation.

Summary

3D ACADEMY strives to keep our pricing simple and fair. Local fees cover essential legal, maintenance, and service-related costs, and are standard across most schools in the Philippines. For a 4-week program, you can expect to pay approximately ₱17,000–₱18,500 in local fees. These must be paid in cash (pesos) after arrival.

There are no hidden fees. Everything is explained upfront, and our team is happy to answer any specific questions you have before arrival. Planning ahead helps ensure a smooth and stress-free experience once you begin your study abroad journey in Cebu.
