Preparing to study abroad can be both exciting and a little overwhelming—especially if it’s your first time traveling overseas. At 3D ACADEMY, we want to make sure you arrive in Cebu fully prepared, with everything you need for a safe, smooth, and comfortable start to your study journey.
Here’s a complete checklist and explanation of what you should do before departure to the Philippines.
Your final destination should be:
Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB)
Please aim to arrive on a Saturday or Sunday before 6:00 PM, so you can join orientation smoothly and use our airport pickup service if needed.
Once your ticket is confirmed:
Double-check the arrival date and time
Send your e-ticket to 3D ACADEMY for airport pickup arrangements
Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive
Bring both originals and copies of the following:
Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
Flight ticket (printed or digital)
School Acceptance Letter from 3D ACADEMY
Special Study Permit (SSP) documents if already provided (otherwise, it will be issued after arrival)
Travel Insurance Certificate (strongly recommended)
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (not required in 2025, but may be useful for other countries)
Tip: Keep these documents in your carry-on bag, not checked luggage.
If you take any prescription medicine:
Bring enough for your entire stay
Include a doctor’s note or prescription in English (especially for controlled drugs)
Keep medicine in original packaging for customs inspection
Note: Many medications are available in the Philippines, but formulas and brands may differ. It’s safest to bring your own.
Local SIM cards are not provided by the school, but can be purchased easily at:
Ayala Mall or SM City Cebu (Globe or Smart booths)
As of 2023, SIM registration with passport is required. You can buy prepaid load and use affordable data promos.
Before departure:
Make sure your phone is unlocked and compatible with Philippine networks (GSM)
Install communication apps like LINE, Messenger, WhatsApp, or Google Translate
Here’s a basic checklist for packing:
Passport
School documents
Travel insurance
Cash (₱5,000–₱10,000 for arrival expenses)
ATM card or international credit card
Light, breathable clothes for hot weather
A light jacket (for malls or classrooms with strong aircon)
Casual school-appropriate outfits
Swimwear, sandals, athletic shoes
Basic items (toothbrush, shampoo, razor, etc.)
Your preferred skincare or hygiene items (some Japanese/Korean brands are hard to find)
Phone, charger, power bank
Laptop or tablet (for self-study or online work)
Universal plug adapter (Philippine sockets are usually 220V, Type A/B)
Bath towel
Small laundry bag
Favorite snacks or tea (optional)
Personal mug or water bottle
Please send the following info to 3D ACADEMY at least 5 days before arrival:
Flight details (airline, flight number, arrival time)
Emergency contact person (in your home country)
Any special requests (e.g. medical conditions, allergies)
This allows us to prepare for your airport pickup and arrival.
Take time to:
Read the 3D ACADEMY Welcome Guide (sent after booking)
Follow our official Instagram or Facebook for updates
Learn about your course, dorm type, and facilities
This will help reduce anxiety and get you excited for your experience!
The Philippines uses the Philippine Peso (PHP). Most students:
Bring ₱5,000–₱10,000 in cash for the first few days
Use an international debit/ATM card to withdraw from local banks
Set up Wise, PayPay, or GCash for convenient payments
Credit cards are accepted in malls, but cash is preferred for daily life (jeepneys, small stores, etc.).
Medical care in the Philippines can be expensive. We strongly recommend overseas travel insurance that covers:
Outpatient care
Emergency hospital visits
Lost luggage, flight delays
COVID-related costs (if applicable)
With insurance, you can receive cashless treatment through our weekday on-campus doctor visits, or support at local hospitals in case of emergencies.
Moving to a new country brings culture shock, but also great growth. Be prepared to:
Try new food
Speak English every day (even with other international students)
Be flexible and open-minded
The staff at 3D ACADEMY will always support you. Japanese-, Chinese-, and Arabic-speaking staff are available on campus daily, so you’ll never feel alone.
