Essential Items
Passport:
Must be valid through your return date.
Airline Ticket:
Even if booked online, print the e-ticket. A return or onward ticket is required for immigration.
Cash:
Best for currency exchange. Even if using an international card, bring some cash (tens of thousands of yen).
Travel Insurance Certificate:
Mandatory. Must be arranged before departure.
Recommended Items
International Cash Card:
Useful for overseas ATMs. Don’t forget the PIN!
Credit Card:
Can be used as ID and for emergencies.
Your language Reference Books:
Not available in the Philippines; especially useful for grammar studies.
Medication:
Bring your regular meds and basics like cold medicine, antacids, pain relievers, eye drops.
Eyewear & Care Products:
Contacts are available locally but expensive and limited.
Hat & Sunglasses:
Sun is strong; can be bought locally if not picky.
Towels:
Available locally but good-quality ones are costly.
Swimsuit:
Often used; local options available.
Insect Repellent:
Available but limited compared to Japan.
Cosmetics & Sunscreen:
Bring what suits your skin to avoid issues.
Supplements:
More expensive locally.

Furikake, miso soup, seasonings—bring if needed.
Personal Items:
Nail clippers, cotton swabs, ear picks, etc.
Unnecessary Items
Paper Dictionary:
Electronic is best. No time to use paper in class.
Traveler’s Checks:
Rarely accepted.
Plug Adapter:
Not needed. Philippine sockets match Japanese type. Check if your devices support 220V.
Voltage Converter:
Can be bought cheaply in the Philippines if needed.
Umbrella:
Available locally.
Hair Dryer:
Japanese ones need a voltage converter. Local ones are inexpensive.

Unnecessary and risky. Avoid flashy clothing or watches.
