At 3D ACADEMY, your safety and peace of mind are top priorities. We understand that studying abroad means living far from home, often for the first time, and we want to make sure that your belongings—and your sense of security—are fully protected.
While Cebu is generally a friendly and welcoming city, theft can happen anywhere in the world. That’s why we have implemented multiple layers of theft prevention measures across our campus, dormitories, and classrooms. These systems are designed not only to prevent incidents, but also to help students feel confident and at ease during their stay.
In this article, we’ll walk you through the various safety and security features we’ve put in place, as well as some practical tips to help you protect your valuables and enjoy a worry-free study abroad experience.
Our school employs trained security personnel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These guards monitor the entrances to both the main campus and all dormitories, ensuring that only authorized people can enter.
Every entry and exit is monitored
Guards perform regular patrols, both during the day and at night
All visitors must sign in at the entrance and be approved by staff
Outsiders cannot enter dormitory areas without permission
This continuous presence creates a secure, controlled environment that deters potential theft and provides immediate assistance if needed.
All school buildings and dormitory areas are equipped with CCTV cameras. These cameras monitor:
Building entrances and exits
Hallways and public spaces
Cafeterias, study rooms, and shared areas
Some external areas around the campus perimeter
Our security team regularly reviews footage and responds quickly to any suspicious behavior. The presence of CCTV is both a deterrent and a valuable tool for investigation if an incident occurs.
Each dormitory has controlled access to ensure only registered students can enter:
Main entrances are monitored and often require staff assistance to enter
Visitors are not allowed inside student rooms
Some dorm types use key cards or room keys assigned individually
Roommates are registered and tracked in the system—no unauthorized room sharing is permitted
Students are encouraged to keep their doors locked when not in the room, even if stepping out for just a moment.
Every student is provided access to a personal safety box or lockable drawer in their dormitory room. We highly recommend using this for:
Passports and ID cards
Credit cards and bankbooks
Cash
Insurance documents
Small electronics (e.g. phones, cameras)
Jewelry or other valuables
If you bring a larger item, such as a laptop, you can request additional security tips or discuss special storage options with our staff.
Our multilingual staff are present on campus every day, and many live in the same dormitory buildings as students. This creates a close-knit, watchful community where suspicious activity is quickly noticed and reported.
Japanese, Chinese, and Arabic-speaking staff are always available
Staff are trained to assist with theft reports and follow-up actions
Students can report missing items confidentially and receive support
In many cases, “lost” items are simply misplaced and found quickly with staff assistance.
While our systems are designed to reduce risk, personal awareness and responsibility are still important. Here are some essential tips:
✅ Always lock your dorm room when leaving—even for a few minutes
✅ Use your personal safety box for passports, cash, and other valuables
✅ Do not leave bags or phones unattended in common areas or classrooms
✅ Avoid showing large amounts of cash in public
✅ Do not lend your room key or ID card to anyone
✅ Report any suspicious behavior immediately to staff or security
These small habits can make a big difference.
If you believe something has been lost or stolen:
Stay calm—many lost items are simply misplaced and found quickly
Inform the dormitory staff or front desk immediately
Staff will help you check CCTV footage if needed
If theft is suspected, a report may be filed and an investigation started
If necessary, we can help you file a police report and contact your insurance provider
Our goal is not only to recover the item if possible, but also to support you emotionally and help you stay focused on your studies.
Thankfully, theft is rare at 3D ACADEMY. The majority of incidents involve:
Misplaced items (left in classrooms, café tables, or laundry areas)
Roommates accidentally using each other’s belongings
Forgetting to lock a room or safety box
Serious theft is extremely uncommon, especially when students follow the school’s safety guidelines. But we never take chances—that’s why we have such a robust system in place.
