What kind of teaching materials are used?

What kind of teaching materials are used?

We use a flexible mix of textbooks, real-world materials, and teacher-made resources—customized to fit each student’s needs.

At 3D ACADEMY, we believe that effective language learning starts with the right materials—but more importantly, we know that the “right” materials can look different for every student.

That’s why we don’t use a fixed, one-size-fits-all textbook across all classes. Instead, we take a flexible and personalized approach to materials selection, guided by the student’s:

  • Current English level

  • Learning goals (e.g., conversation, exam prep, business use)

  • Preferred learning style (visual, auditory, interactive, etc.)

  • Personality and confidence level

  • Specific challenges (grammar, fluency, vocabulary, etc.)

For example, a complete beginner might benefit most from visual aids, picture-based vocabulary sheets, and slow-paced dialogues, while a businessperson preparing for an international presentation might need email writing templates, negotiation roleplays, or slide reviews.

Some students enjoy structured textbooks with clear grammar rules and exercises. Others prefer interactive, conversation-heavy materials that mirror real-life situations. Some are studying for TOEIC or IELTS, requiring test-specific drills, mock exams, and skill-building strategies. And some just want to speak more naturally and confidently in casual situations.

Our teachers are trained to identify what works best for each individual—and to adjust the materials accordingly, even from one class to the next.

In short, you’ll never be forced to follow a textbook that doesn’t suit you. We aim to make every lesson feel relevant, practical, and personalized—because when you’re using materials that match your goals and interests, your motivation increases, and your English improves faster.

That’s the 3D ACADEMY difference.

‍ For General English & Daily Conversation

If your goal is to improve your ability to speak and understand everyday English, we provide a wide variety of practical and learner-friendly materials.

Depending on your level and needs, you’ll use:

  • ESL conversation textbooks organized by useful themes such as food, travel, shopping, hobbies, and health

  • Grammar-focused workbooks that explain sentence structure in simple steps, with plenty of examples and short exercises

  • Picture-based vocabulary sheets that support memory through visual association—great for beginners or visual learners

  • Real-life situation dialogues, such as ordering at a café, buying a bus ticket, or asking for directions—perfect for roleplay

  • Teacher-made worksheets and flashcards tailored to reinforce phrases and grammar points from previous lessons

  • Short reading passages with simple comprehension questions to build reading confidence and expand context-based vocabulary

These materials are designed to help you develop natural conversation skills, not just textbook knowledge. Teachers often combine listening, speaking, reading, and writing in one lesson to help reinforce learning in a fun and interactive way.

For example, a class may begin with a short dialogue about shopping, then move into vocabulary building, followed by grammar practice using that vocabulary in different situations. You may then practice the conversation in a real-time roleplay scenario, switching roles with the teacher.

This flexible, topic-based approach is ideal for:

  • Beginners who need to start with simple, everyday expressions

  • Intermediate learners looking to expand their fluency and natural usage

  • Students preparing for travel or homestay situations abroad

No matter your level, we’ll help you build the confidence to use English in real-life situations—one conversation at a time.

For TOEIC, IELTS, and Academic Test Preparation

If your main goal is to improve your test scores for TOEIC®, IELTS™, or other academic exams, we provide a comprehensive range of high-quality, targeted materials—combined with experienced teacher support and progress tracking.

You’ll have access to:

  • Official TOEIC® and IELTS™ preparation books, such as those by ETS, Cambridge, Barron’s, Hackers, and other reputable publishers

  • Full-length practice test packs that mirror the actual test format, helping you become familiar with question types and time management

  • Listening transcripts and practice recordings to improve speed and accuracy in understanding test-style audio

  • Reading comprehension drills, including skimming and scanning strategies

  • Vocabulary and phrase-building lists focused on test frequency and high-yield terms

  • Essay writing templates and task guides, especially useful for IELTS Writing Task 1 and 2

  • Scoring rubrics to help you understand how your writing and speaking would be evaluated

  • Teacher-created mini-tests and drills, customized to your personal weak points

  • Grammar reviews designed to support better sentence structure in both writing and speaking

To make your learning efficient and measurable, we also conduct mock tests on a regular basis. These help both you and your teacher identify patterns in your mistakes and prioritize what to work on next. You’ll receive detailed feedback—not just scores—so you know why you made a mistake and how to fix it.

This approach helps students:

  • Track improvements clearly over time

  • Stay motivated with small milestones

  • Build confidence in each section of the test

Whether you’re aiming for a TOEIC score of 700+ or targeting IELTS Band 6.5 or higher, we’ll give you the tools, strategies, and support to get there.

For Business English and Working Professionals

If you’re learning English for work or professional development, we offer a wide range of practical and industry-relevant materials designed to help you perform confidently in real business situations.

You’ll use:

  • Business English textbooks covering essential topics like presentations, business meetings, telephone conversations, negotiations, and networking

  • Email writing and report templates, complete with useful phrases and tone adjustments (formal, semi-formal, etc.)

  • Vocabulary sheets customized for your field, such as marketing, sales, IT, customer service, hospitality, or education

  • Job interview prep guides with common Q&A, STAR method templates, and simulated mock interviews

  • Realistic scenarios, such as pitching a product, handling a client complaint, or participating in a video conference

  • Student-provided materials like resumes, emails, company brochures, or PowerPoint decks—used directly in class to simulate real-world use

What sets us apart is that our instructors are not limited to textbook content. They’re trained to adapt, rephrase, simplify, or professionalize your actual work-related content so that your learning is directly applicable to your job.

Need to revise a client email? Prepare for an online meeting? Practice presenting your business idea in English? Just bring your material—we’ll help you polish it together.

For Speaking Fluency & Pronunciation

If your main concern is speaking more smoothly, confidently, and naturally, we use a combination of fluency-focused tools to help you sound more like a global communicator.

Materials include:

  • Phonics and pronunciation drills to improve clarity of sound

  • Shadowing practice using short recordings or videos to improve rhythm and intonation

  • Question-and-answer frameworks that help you think in English and respond without hesitation

  • Discussion prompts designed to encourage opinion sharing, storytelling, or critical thinking

  • Stress, rhythm, and intonation exercises to make your English more expressive and listener-friendly

Advanced students may also work with TED Talks, news clips, YouTube interviews, or podcasts. This exposes you to real-world English and helps you adapt to different accents, speeds, and speaking styles.

Your teacher will select materials that match your current fluency level and stretch you gradually—helping you speak not just correctly, but convincingly.

Everything is Flexible—Just Like Your Lessons

We know that no two learners are alike. If at any time you feel that the material is too difficult, too simple, too boring, or not relevant to your goals, just let your teacher know. Our instructors are trained to recognize these signs proactively and adjust on the spot.

In many cases, they’ll create custom worksheets, writing tasks, or vocabulary sets just for you—based on what you discussed, your progress, or your career goals.

You’re also encouraged to bring your own materials, such as:

  • Business emails

  • Company reports

  • Sales presentations

  • Product descriptions

  • Internship applications

  • LinkedIn profiles

This allows you to make your classroom experience 100% practical and real-world ready.

Summary

At 3D ACADEMY, we believe that great results come from great materials—but only when they’re tailored to the student.

That’s why we don’t lock you into one book or one method. Instead, we use:

  • Proven textbooks

  • Teacher-developed materials

  • Authentic resources (videos, documents, media)

  • Your own real-life content

The result? A flexible, personalized, and purpose-driven learning experience—whether you’re preparing for a job interview, a TOEIC exam, a homestay, or a client meeting.

Whatever your goal, we’ll make sure you’re using the right tools to reach it—with confidence.
