What if I can’t keep up with the lessons?

What if I can’t keep up with the lessons?

At 3D ACADEMY, we understand that learning a new language can be challenging, especially in a full-immersion environment. Whether you’re a complete beginner or just feeling rusty, it’s normal to worry about keeping up.

But don’t panic—you’re not alone, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Everyone learns at their own pace

Every student has a different background in English. Some may have studied in school but never practiced speaking. Others may be beginners starting from zero. No matter your starting point, our system is designed to be flexible and student-centered.

You are not expected to understand everything right away. In fact, many students feel confused or overwhelmed during the first few days. But with time, support, and the right strategy, your confidence and ability will grow rapidly.

Our one-on-one classes are built for you

One of the biggest advantages of 3D ACADEMY is that all our courses include one-on-one (man-to-man) classes. These lessons are completely personalized:

  • You can ask your teacher to repeat or explain things more slowly

  • You can request more practice on grammar, vocabulary, or conversation

  • The pace and content are fully customized to your level

If you’re struggling, your one-on-one classes will be your safe space to catch up and rebuild confidence.

Group classes can be difficult—especially for beginners

In many of our standard ESL courses (such as General ESL or Intensive ESL), we include 2 to 3 group classes per day. These are great opportunities for discussion, listening practice, and interaction with other students.

However, for some students—especially beginners or those with low confidence—group classes can feel overwhelming. Common challenges include:

  • Not being able to follow fast discussions

  • Feeling shy about speaking in front of others

  • Difficulty understanding different accents or topics

  • Not knowing when to jump into the conversation

If you’ve found yourself feeling lost or anxious during group lessons, you are not alone. Many of our students share the same concern.

What can I do if group classes feel too difficult?

We highly recommend that students who are struggling consider converting group classes into one-on-one classes. This option is available for most of our ESL courses.

✅ 3 group classes = 1 man-to-man class (standard conversion)

Instead of attending 3 group classes per day, you can switch to 1 additional one-on-one class. This allows you to:

  • Focus on your personal weaknesses

  • Avoid pressure or confusion from group discussions

  • Receive clearer explanations and more speaking time

  • Build your confidence in a private, supportive setting

This option is particularly helpful during your first week, when you’re still adjusting to the English-only environment.

How do I request this change?

You can simply speak to our academic coordinator or student support staff. They will assist you in adjusting your schedule to suit your comfort level and goals.

We recommend trying the standard schedule first, then requesting the change if you find group classes too difficult. There is no additional charge for converting group classes to man-to-man (as long as the total instructional time stays within your course package).

Additional support outside the classroom

If you’re still feeling behind, here are some other helpful strategies:

  • Tell your teacher directly: Ask them to go slower, explain more clearly, or review key grammar points. Our teachers are trained to adjust their approach based on your feedback.

  • Visit the self-study room: Quiet spaces are available all day to review your notes or go over lessons with classmates.

  • Use ChatGPT or learning apps: Many students use ChatGPT, Duolingo, or YouTube channels like BBC Learning English to practice outside class.

  • Attend optional discussion classes: While group classes can be tough, our optional discussion classes are relaxed and great for light practice.

Most students struggle at first—and that’s okay

It’s important to remember: you are not failing.
Struggling at the beginning is a normal part of the learning process. Many students arrive thinking, “I can’t speak at all,” but after just one or two weeks, they’re surprised at how much they understand and can say.

Your progress won’t always be visible day by day, but it builds up fast—especially in a one-on-one environment like 3D ACADEMY.

Summary: You’re not alone, and we’re here to help

If you feel like you can’t keep up with the lessons:

  • Talk to your teacher

  • Speak to the academic office

  • Consider switching group classes to man-to-man

  • Use your free time for light review and speaking practice

With these small adjustments, you’ll find yourself improving faster than you imagined. At 3D ACADEMY, we’re committed to helping every student succeed—no matter your level or background.
