How are the teachers selected?

How are the teachers selected?

At 3D ACADEMY, teachers are carefully selected and assigned based on each student’s age, English level, course type, and learning goals.
We don’t just assign teachers randomly—our academic team matches students with instructors who best suit their learning style and personality.

This personalized approach helps students feel more comfortable, stay motivated, and learn more effectively, especially in our one-on-one class environment.

Let’s take a closer look at how we assign teachers—and why it matters.

Personalized teacher assignment—not random scheduling

Unlike many schools that rotate teachers or assign them randomly, 3D ACADEMY follows a matching-based scheduling system. Before your classes begin, our academic team reviews your placement test, course type, and personal background to determine the best teacher lineup for your one-on-one classes.

We ask:

  • Is the student a complete beginner or already advanced?

  • Is the student a teenager, working professional, or retiree?

  • Is the student enrolled in TOEIC preparation, business English, or daily conversation?

  • Does the student need slow and patient instruction, or dynamic discussion?

Based on these answers, we select teachers who have the right teaching style, pace, personality, and expertise to help you succeed.

Matching teachers to student age

We recognize that teaching style matters depending on the student’s age:

  • Teenagers and high school students are usually matched with young, friendly, and energetic teachers who can keep the student engaged with light conversation, encouragement, and positive energy.

  • University students or working professionals may prefer teachers who are more structured, goal-oriented, and able to handle advanced grammar, formal writing, or presentation training.

  • Older students or retirees often value clarity, patience, and a calm teaching style. We take this into account when assigning their teachers.

This age-based matching is especially helpful in one-on-one lessons, where the chemistry between student and teacher is key.

Matching teachers by English level and learning goals

We also consider each student’s starting level and purpose for studying English. For example:

  • Beginners are matched with teachers who speak more slowly, use simplified grammar, provide frequent review, and encourage student participation without pressure.

  • Intermediate learners may be paired with teachers who can push them further with conversation, fluency exercises, and vocabulary expansion.

  • Advanced students may be assigned instructors who can engage in debates, business discussion, or professional writing correction.

If a student is preparing for a specific goal—like a job interview, IELTS speaking test, or business presentation—we assign teachers with relevant experience in that area.

Matching by course type

3D ACADEMY offers a variety of courses, and each course requires a different instructional approach. We assign teachers accordingly:

  • General ESL → Friendly and adaptable teachers for all-around skills

  • Intensive ESL → Teachers skilled in structuring fast-paced, high-volume lessons

  • Business English → Teachers trained in formal vocabulary, email writing, meetings, and negotiation

  • TOEIC / IELTS → Test-focused instructors familiar with exam structure and strategies

  • Junior Camp or High School Programs → Teachers with experience teaching young learners in a fun, encouraging style

This ensures that the teacher’s strengths align with the course objectives.

What if I’m struggling or don’t feel comfortable?

Even with careful scheduling, we understand that not every match is perfect. If you feel that your teacher is too fast, too difficult, or not a good fit for your personality or learning style, you can request a teacher change at any time.

Simply visit the academic office and explain your concerns. No formal complaint is needed—we welcome open feedback. Our team will listen, find a better match, and update your schedule accordingly, often within the next day.

We want every student to feel comfortable and supported in every class.

Do teachers change often during a stay?

In general, we try to keep your core one-on-one teachers consistent, especially if the chemistry is good. However, in long-term stays (4+ weeks), you may experience some changes due to:

  • Teacher availability or leave

  • Course progression (e.g., switching from general ESL to test prep)

  • Student request for variation or challenge

Even when changes occur, we hand-pick the next teacher with your learning continuity in mind.

What about group classes?

Group classes at 3D ACADEMY are optional and vary in content, such as discussion, listening, or pronunciation. These are not always personalized, but we still assign teachers who are good at managing mixed-level classrooms and encouraging participation from everyone.

If you find group classes difficult (especially as a beginner), you can also convert group classes into one-on-one lessons—a highly recommended option for students who want more personalized support.

Teacher profiles and weekly reviews

Behind the scenes, our academic coordinators maintain detailed profiles on each teacher, including:

  • Strengths (e.g., grammar, conversation, business English)

  • Preferred student type (beginners, teens, adults, etc.)

  • Feedback history from students

  • Flexibility and teaching approach

We also hold weekly meetings to review student progress and re-check the match between teachers and students. If a student is falling behind, we may proactively suggest a teacher change or schedule adjustment.

How are the teachers recruited?

At 3D ACADEMY, we follow a strict and careful recruitment process to ensure that all teachers meet our high standards in both language ability and teaching quality.

Step 1: Screening and Hiring

All applicants must be university graduates, preferably with degrees in English, education, or communication. We assess candidates through:

  • Multiple interviews

  • Demo teaching sessions

  • Pronunciation and grammar checks

We look for teachers who are not only fluent in English, but also patient, friendly, and adaptable—qualities that are especially important for teaching beginners and international students.

Step 2: Training

Successful applicants complete a two-week intensive training program, where they learn:

  • Effective one-on-one teaching methods

  • How to adjust to different student levels and learning styles

  • How to speak clearly and slowly for beginners

  • Cultural awareness when working with students from Asia and beyond

Step 3: Matching Teachers to Students

After recruitment, teachers are assigned to students based on age, level, and course goals. For example, business learners may be matched with instructors who have formal teaching experience, while beginners are paired with slow-speaking, supportive tutors.

We believe that great learning starts with the right teacher—and that begins with great recruiting.

Final message: You’re matched with care

At 3D ACADEMY, we don’t leave your education to chance. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced learner, young or mature, shy or outgoing, we take the time to understand who you are—and assign you the teachers who can support your journey best.

From the moment you step into class, you’ll feel that your teacher is there not just to teach English—but to teach you.
