Bank’s goal in coming to 3D ACADEMY was not only to learn English, but also to have experiences he could not have in his own country. Although he was studying to get a high IELTS score, he also made time with the friends he met at 3D to enjoy the famous resorts of Cebu Island and the local food. He says that the experience he had here will become an important memory that stays in his heart long after he returns to his country.
What impressed him most was meeting teachers who were kind but very professional, and being able to interact in English with students of many different nationalities.
General comment
“English is very important. Today, most jobs require English to communicate with foreigners. It is also useful for traveling, and it can open the door to better jobs and higher salaries in the future. If you know English, the world opens up before you.”
Why did you want to learn English?
“Because I wanted to study English and be able to speak it fluently to advance my career in the future.”
Why did you choose Cebu Island?
“At first I considered Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and India as places to study, but the cost was an obstacle. The Philippines fit my budget well, and the climate and food are similar to Thailand’s, so I thought it would be easy to live here. I was also very attracted by the fact that there were one-on-one classes; I think it’s a good option for people who don’t feel comfortable speaking in a group. And since many Filipinos speak English, you can also practice the language in daily life.”
Why did you choose 3D ACADEMY?
“A friend of mine studied here for four months, and that is how I became interested in the school. When I compared prices with other schools in Cebu City, this one turned out to be the cheapest and had a very convenient location. It is close to shopping malls, restaurants and tourist spots, so it was easy not only to study but also to live. Also, the quality of the teachers is high, there are native teachers, and since there were few Thai students, it was easier to immerse myself completely in English.”
About the food
“It’s quite similar to Thai food, and I liked it a lot.”
The atmosphere at school
“I liked the central area and the cafeteria in each building. They were places where I met friends and talked with new people. On Mondays and Wednesdays there were also movie screenings, and every night I spent my time actively, talking with friends, playing games or doing homework.”
Which class was the most effective?
“The teachers were kind and fun, and they created an atmosphere where I could speak English without getting nervous. It felt like studying with friends, and every day I learned new things in a very enjoyable way.”
How did you spend your weekends?
“At first, all I knew about Cebu was things like whale sharks or the Chocolate Hills. But when I arrived, I found it was a calm city, not as built-up as I had imagined. There is a lot of nature, and I could enjoy beaches, mountains, waterfalls and many activities. I traveled with my friends to different places and had a really great time.”
Three culture shocks you felt on Cebu Island
“Cebu has a wonderful design in which nature and the city live side by side. In my country it is hard to get to nature so easily. Also, Filipinos are kind and friendly. Here I could feel safe and enjoy myself with peace of mind.”
Special comment
“What excited me most was meeting students of so many nationalities. By speaking English with people from different countries, such as Japanese and Taiwanese students, my English level (especially my speaking) improved enormously. Besides English, I learned about other cultures and developed my ability to adapt to people from other countries. I also took an active part in dance classes (hip-hop and Zumba), cultural exchanges and English events, and I was able to create the best memories together with many friends.”
