Is drinking water supplied?

Is drinking water supplied?

Yes—clean and safe drinking water is provided at 3D ACADEMY. You don’t need to worry about purchasing bottled water every day or carrying heavy jugs back from the store. We understand that access to drinking water is an essential part of student life, especially in a tropical country like the Philippines.

To make hydration easy, safe, and convenient, the school provides water dispensers in multiple locations throughout the campus.

What kind of water is available?

The school uses hot and cold water dispensers (also called water servers) that are regularly maintained and refilled with purified drinking water. This water is:

  • Safe for drinking

  • Refilled by professional water delivery services

  • Stored in clean, closed systems to avoid contamination

Each dispenser provides:

  • Cold water – perfect for refreshing drinks during hot days

  • Hot water – ideal for making tea, coffee, or instant noodles

Where are the water dispensers located?

You can find water dispensers in all key areas of the school, including:

  • Classrooms and study halls

  • ️ Dormitory floors (on-campus)

  • ️ Cafeteria and buffet lounge

  • ‍ Teacher and student lounges

  • Near restrooms and waiting areas

This means that no matter where you are—studying, relaxing, eating, or heading to class—you’re never far from clean drinking water.

Do I need to bring my own water bottle?

Yes, we highly recommend that students bring their own reusable water bottle or tumbler.

Here’s why:

  • You can refill easily throughout the day

  • It saves money (no need to buy bottled water)

  • It’s more environmentally friendly

  • You can keep water cool or hot, depending on your bottle

Many students use insulated bottles (500–1000ml) that can be filled in the morning and topped up during breaks.

If you forget to bring one, you can easily buy one nearby at:

  • 7-Eleven (inside JY Square Mall)

  • Supermarkets in Ayala or SM

  • Daiso, Don Don Donki, and other lifestyle stores in Cebu

Is the water safe to drink?

Yes, the water from the dispensers is filtered and purified, and regularly replaced by trusted suppliers. It is safe for:

  • Daily drinking

  • Mixing with powdered drinks

  • Preparing instant meals (e.g., ramen or soup)

  • Making coffee or tea

However, tap water in the Philippines is not recommended for drinking, especially for foreigners who are not used to the local water treatment systems. That’s why using school-provided water dispensers is the best option.

What about the dormitories?

Students living in the on-campus dormitories or partner hotel-type dorms also have access to clean drinking water. In most cases:

  • On-campus: Water dispensers are installed on each floor

  • Hotel dorms: Bottled water or dispensers are provided by the hotel OR students can refill at school during the day

For students staying off-campus (Walk-in Course), we recommend checking if your residence offers water refills, or making use of the school’s water during class hours.

What if I want to boil or filter my own water?

Some students prefer to take extra steps, especially if they have sensitive stomachs or are staying long-term. In that case, you can:

  • Use the hot water function from the dispenser to boil your water

  • Bring a small portable water filter (optional)

  • Use commercial bottled water available at local shops (cheap and widely available)

But for most students, the school’s purified water is more than sufficient, and used daily without issue.

How much water should I expect to drink per day?

In Cebu’s warm and humid climate, it’s important to stay hydrated—especially since you may be walking, studying intensively, or participating in afternoon activities.

Most students drink:

  • 1.5 to 2.5 liters per day on average

  • More if doing exercise or walking outside in the sun

  • Less during cooler rainy days, but hydration is still key

Keeping a bottle at your desk or in your bag helps you build healthy hydration habits.

Do I need to pay for water?

No. Drinking water from the school dispensers is completely free of charge, and included as part of your campus amenities. There’s no need to pay or request permission—you can refill as often as you like.

The only time you’d need to buy water is:

  • If you’re out exploring the city

  • If your residence (off-campus) does not offer free water

  • If you want specific types (e.g., flavored water, mineral water, sparkling)

Even then, bottled water in the Philippines is very affordable—around 10–25 pesos (25–60 yen) for a 500ml bottle.
