3D ACADEMY: Access Guide to the New Campus — MIT Building

3D ACADEMY, one of the oldest English schools on Cebu Island, has moved to a new campus.

Recently, more and more partner agencies from abroad—especially from China and Taiwan—have heard this news and come to visit the school.

In this article we explain how to get from the old campus to the new MIT Building, so that both those who have not yet been to the area and future 3D ACADEMY students can easily find the new campus.

So that the guide is clear even for those visiting Cebu for the first time, we also present the main landmarks of the area: the Lahug district, IT Park, JY Square Mall and Jollibee.

The Lahug district, where 3D ACADEMY is located, is one of the most comfortable areas to live in Cebu City, and also very convenient for international students.

Around the school there are restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, convenience stores, banks and hotels: almost everything you need for daily life is within a short distance.

In addition, Cebu IT Park, one of the main business areas on Cebu Island, is in Lahug.

Both the old 3D ACADEMY campus and the new MIT Building are precisely in the Lahug district.

This move did not mean going to a completely different area: the school moved to the MIT Building, located very close to the old campus.

Thanks to this, the usual convenience of daily life has been kept while moving to a more pleasant environment for studying and living.

Cebu IT Park is one of the main business areas of Cebu City.

Many IT and BPO companies have their offices here, so the area brings together both Filipinos who work in Cebu and many foreigners.

There are also plenty of restaurants, cafes, convenience stores and shopping malls, so, even though it is a business district, it is also very convenient for daily life.

The Lahug district, where 3D ACADEMY is located, has easy access to IT Park.

Being able to study in a cafe, go out to dinner at a restaurant or stroll around IT Park on your days off is another advantage of living in Lahug.

The old 3D ACADEMY campus is on the second floor of JY Square Mall.

JY Square Mall is a shopping mall located on the main road of Lahug, and it is a very well-known landmark for people who live in the area.

The old 3D ACADEMY campus was on the second floor of a building with a supermarket, so students could shop before or after classes: a very convenient location.

You could also walk there from IT Park, and near the school there were restaurants and convenience stores.

However, there was one drawback.

The area around JY Square has a lot of traffic and a lot of people, and both the old campus and the old dorm were close to the main road.

For that reason, some students—especially those whose rooms faced the street—said that at night the noise of cars and the street bothered them.

With the move to the MIT Building, this has improved considerably.

Now, let's walk together from the old campus to the new one.

When you leave the entrance of the old 3D ACADEMY campus, walk in the direction of Jollibee.

In fact, the new campus is very close: you do not need to walk a long distance.

The building next to Jollibee is precisely the MIT Building, where the new 3D ACADEMY campus is located.

What is Jollibee?

Jollibee is one of the best-known fast-food chains in the Philippines.

It is very popular across the country and serves fried chicken, hamburgers, spaghetti and other dishes.

In Cebu you can see many Jollibee restaurants, so practically everyone who visits the Philippines ends up seeing one.

For 3D ACADEMY students, Jollibee is a very clear landmark when going from the old campus to the new one.

If you remember this simple formula, even first-time visitors will easily find the new campus.

The MIT Building is the building where the new 3D ACADEMY campus and the new dorm are located.

The MIT complex has Building 1 and Building 2; the new 3D ACADEMY campus, opened in May 2026, is on the fifth floor of Building 2.

Classes are already held at the new campus, and students are learning English in this new environment.

One of the big advantages of MIT Building 2 compared with the old campus is the quiet.

Building 2 does not face the main road directly.

Building 2 is located further back in the complex, behind the parking lot and Building 1, so it is somewhat away from the busy street.

For that reason, it is a much quieter environment than the old campus.

Since classes are held mainly during the day, outside noise was not a big problem at the old campus either, but where the difference will be most noticeable is in the student dorm.

The new dorm will also move to Building 2, and being able to spend the nights in a quiet environment is one of the big differences from the old dorm.

If you look at the building from the MIT parking lot, you will see a 7-Eleven store.

From the 7-Eleven store, walk straight along the corridor.

Having a 7-Eleven inside the same building is another convenience for international students.

What is 7-Eleven?

7-Eleven is a convenience store chain that is also very well known in Japan, and it has numerous stores in the Philippines.

The 7-Eleven in the MIT Building is open 24 hours, so you can buy drinks, snacks and basic necessities at any time.

This is especially useful for students who live in the dorm: having a store open 24 hours in the same building makes daily life much easier.

In addition, in the MIT Building there are, besides the 7-Eleven, ATMs and a massage parlor.

So you can not only study English but also access the services needed for daily life without having to leave the building.

In the parking lot area there are security guards present 24 hours a day.

In addition, at night the building can only be entered through one particular elevator, so outsiders cannot enter freely.

This security system is designed so that even students under 18 and female students can live and study with peace of mind.

What is more, from October 2026, 3D ACADEMY security guards will also be on the eighth floor of Building 2—the main floor of the new dorm.

When you enter Building 2, use this elevator.

The new 3D ACADEMY campus is on the fifth floor.

Take the elevator up to the fifth floor and you will arrive at the new 3D ACADEMY campus.

The distance between the old campus and the MIT Building is very short, and once you learn the route, it is practically impossible to get lost.

When you reach the fifth floor in the elevator, you find that the whole floor is occupied by the 3D ACADEMY campus.

Thanks to the large windows, a lot of natural light comes in, and the atmosphere is bright and spacious.

To the left of the elevator are the classrooms,

and to the right, the office, the group classrooms and the student lounge.

From October 2026, the student lounge will be open until 23:00.

It is also air-conditioned, so it is a suitable space both for studying on your own after classes and for socializing among students or simply taking a break.

3D ACADEMY is moving to MIT Building 2 not only the new campus but also the student dorm.

The complete move, including the dorm, is planned from October 5, 2026.

On the sixth and seventh floors of MIT Building 2, mainly spacious rooms for 2, 3, 4 and 6 people have been contracted.

In addition, the eighth floor will also be used as a student dorm.

At first it will start with half of the eighth floor, and from January 2027 the entire eighth floor will become the 3D ACADEMY student dorm.

Also, in the 3-, 4- and 6-person rooms, bunk beds will be removed entirely, and only single beds without bunks will be installed.

Since, among students of different nationalities, many preferred to avoid the top bunk, it was decided to make this change to offer a more comfortable living environment.

From October 2026, the kitchen, laundry and cafeteria will also move to the third floor of MIT Building 1.

Until now, the kitchen was in another building in front of the main campus, but by moving inside the MIT Building, functions essential for life abroad—the school, the dorm, meals and laundry—will be concentrated in an area much closer together.

In particular, with the kitchen and cafeteria closer, it will be easier to offer students freshly prepared meals, even more than before.

Renovation work is currently under way, and photos of the finished space will be published gradually.

With the complete move planned for October 5, 2026, the room types of the school dorm will be reorganized.

Both the previous internal dorm and the former “MIT external dorm” have been merged into the new internal dorm.

What matters about this move of 3D ACADEMY is not simply that the campus is new.

The essential point is that the school has kept its usual convenient location in Lahug and, at the same time, has made the leap to a quieter, more comfortable environment for studying and living.

From JY Square Mall, where the old campus was, to the MIT Building there is very little distance, so access to the usual restaurants, supermarkets and IT Park hardly changes.

On the other hand, Building 2, where the new campus and the new dorm are located, is somewhat further back from the main road, so the atmosphere is quieter than at the old campus and the old dorm.

In addition, with the move of the dorm, kitchen, laundry and cafeteria to the MIT Building, student life abroad will become even more comfortable.
